Halloranhill... how can you say something stupid like that!? Elton had some kind of cancer on throat and that's why he made a surgery. This is also one of the rare song where he uses such falsetto voice. Go listen to other songs from that period and you will see that his voice is deeper and normal.

He blew his voice out while touring in Australia in 86 and had to have surgery on his throat so he could continue singing. He didn't have surgery "to not sound like a girl".

He uses his falsetto voice for the high notes. He used to have a good range but he actually had surgery done on his voicebox to make his voice lower. Guess he didn't want to sound like a girl.

It's amazing he could still sing at that high key in 1984. 2 years later it would be impossible. Just imagine if Elton could sing like that today! Imagine his 90's and 2000's albums with this vocals! |
