I like the connection you make, Dave Grohl writes great songs, but in a difficult genre. Phil Collins did this with Genesis and after, but eventually stripped down the music to focus on the lyric. Dave is a bit hard to access sometimes, but both writers have something to say that we ought to hear.

I love Phil Collins, he started as a GREAT drummer in a band that was all about musicianship (Genesis) and eventually became a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter of incredible depth and heart. This is one of my favorite songs ever, it speaks to a despair everyone feels sometimes, but few can put words to. "Take a good look at me now... There's just an empty space..." No writer has written anything more true and raw and awful and wonderful.

He is, too. Doesn't get a lot of pub as such. Neither does Dave Grohl, who, by the way, made the entire first Foo Fighters album by himself......F'in Billy Joel can't even write his own songs.....
